Welcome to the official website of the St. Charles East High School Colorguard

The St. Charles East Colorguard are from St. Charles, Illinois. They are a club at the St. Charles East High School. The Colorguard work year 'round. They start immediately following tryouts in May. During the summer the Guard meets twice a week to work on technique, build strength, and learn routines they will need to know for the fall football season.

They attend a four day camp in July/August where they work with a professional dance instructor, improve technique, learn one of their competition routines and learn more routines for the football season.

Performances include: Kane County Cougars, Football Games, Freshman Orientation, Pep Assemblies, School Assemblies, Parades, and Competitions.

The JV and Varsity Colorguard compete during the winter with the Illinois Drill Team Association (IDTA). The Varsity have been STATE CHAMPIONS with IDTA since 2002.

The Coaches of the St. Charles East Colorguard have over 20 years of combined experience. They work together to provide the best possible experience for the team members.

Johnni Zabka, Head Coach - Coach Zabka began coaching at STCE the Fall of 1996. In her first year of coaching the team they qualified for SuperSectional. The second year they qualified for SuperSectional and State and were top 5 finishers at the State Level in 1998. In 2002 the Varsity Team won their first State title with a Tall Flag routine to "Unchained Melody". The tradition continued and the Varsity Colorguard have been State Champions every year since 2002. Coach Zabka is retiring after this season.

Brittany Kladiva LaManna, Head Coach - Coach LaManna was a member of the Colorguard at STCE when Coach Zabka began coaching in 1996, and was a member of the 1998 team that went to State for the first time. She was also Captain of the Colorguard 1997-1998. Coach LaManna started Coaching at STCE with the JV in 2005. She helped them to set record scores with their routines, earning their way to the JV Finals and winning their events. Coach LaManna moved up to the Varsity level to work more closely with Coach Zabka. She will be taking over the position of Head Coach when Coach Zabka retires.

Meredith Reece, JV Coach - Coach Reece was a member of the Colorguard 1998-2002. She was the Varsity Captain her Junior and Senior year. Upon graduation she competed during the summer with the Pioneers (DCI), and was a featured member of their guard. During the Fall/Winter she coached the JV Colorguard at STCE from 2002-2005. Coach Reece is back with us this year and looks forward to a great season.
